Subscription Management
Subscriptions have their common area of application in the sale of digital goods. Here they serve the purpose of obtaining access to a particular service for a defined recurring period (for example, monthly).
Novalnet AG takes over the activation of the subscription on your behalf, as well as the continuous monitoring of incoming payments. Furthermore, via the comprehensive interface of Novalnet AG, you can activate the controls on your own.
Subscriptions with a limited duration will be automatically terminated by us at the end of the subscription period. In order to cancel unlimited subscriptions, we provide your end-users with an additional user-friendly customer portal. The Novalnet AG interface also allows you to manage customer subscriptions independently.
Novalnet supports the following types of subscription management: Type 1: Subscription management at Merchant/Marketplace Type 2: Automated and fully integrated subscription management at Novalnet Both types are entirely PCI DSS conform, and the merchants need not be PCI DSS certified. Please refer to one of the types below, per your subscription management preference.
Subscription management at Merchant/Marketplace
Novalnet provides an easy-to-adopt payment by reference option for processing recurring payments, managed at the merchant’s side. Through this option, recurring or one-time follow-up payments of an existing paid shopper can be triggered by the merchant/marketplace (without shopper involvement).
Automated subscription management at Novalnet
Novalnet also offers fully integrated and automated subscription management. This reduces your time spent: subscriptions are automatically triggered, Novalnet monitors incoming payments, and billing of subscriptions with different durations is possible. Furthermore, the integrated subscription management at Novalnet allows you to use and integrate the functions described below in the simplest way possible.
Subscription management at Novalnet is supported only for Credit/Debit Cards, PayPal, Direct Debit SEPA, Direct Debit SEPA with payment guarantee, Prepayment, Invoice and Invoice with payment guarantee payment methods.
Novalnet supports multi-dimensional subscriptions. Subscriptions are defined into the following two types at Novalnet:
The subscriptions are processed per the Tariff defined in the Novalnet Admin Portal.
To define a tariff with the desired type of subscription in your portal, follow the below steps,
- In your portal, navigate to the menu Projects
- Select the project from the list
- In the API credentials tab, click on the link Create new Tariff
