Alipay is a digital wallet popularly used among Chinese shoppers. Billions of users pay with Alipay online or through the Alipay app. Almost 80% of online users in China have made online purchases as Alipay offers a frictionless user experience enabling a higher conversion rate.
The most widely used Alipay payment method is on the web, where a mobile device with an Alipay app is used to scan the QR code. Also, on the web, shoppers log in to the Alipay payment page with their credentials to make the payment without a mobile device. How does AliPay Work?
- Shoppers choose the Alipay payment method on the web or mobile devices checkout page.
- Shoppers get redirected to the Alipay payment page.
- They scan the QR code with the Alipay mobile app and authenticate with a pin to confirm payment.
- It may also require that shoppers confirm payment after a Two-factor authentication.
- The Alipay app displays the payment success notification.
